Change for Good in September: Southern Oregon Land Conservancy

For the month of September, Ashland Food Co-op shoppers can round up at the register to support Southern Oregon Land Conservancy. Since 1973, SOLC has been working on multiple fronts to improve land quality and conservation for humans and nature alike. Check out some of the projects below that SOLC has been working on recently. And mark your calendar for Saturday, October 24, as SOLC hosts an Open Lands Day hike and tour on the Rogue River Preserve.

Southern Oregon Land Conservancy recently launched their Upper Bear Creek Watershed Project. Many people know how special the Bear Creek watershed is - and SOLC is working to help keep it that way.

Southern Oregon enjoys a rich legacy of scenic and historic trails. The Pacific Crest Trail, Oregon Trail, and Applegate Trail each play an important role in the state's recreational and historic value. Hosted by Southern Oregon Land Conservancy, enjoy this presentation by Jeff Lalande and William Buck who provide a fascinating oral and visual tapestry, tying together these three trails and what they mean to Southern Oregon.

This is a tale of a rare bird, a magnificent prairie, an inspiring conservationist, and a community education project. Thanks to Southern Oregon Land Conservancy, 324 more acres on Howard Prairie are permanently conserved.

Thanks to the shared vision of special landowners and partners, Southern Oregon Land Conservancy conserved 223 more acres last November which includes two properties in their Colestin-Siskiyou Summit Focus Area.
