Announcing the new GM

Dear Co-op Community,

The Ashland Food Co-op Board of Directors is delighted to announce that, after a thorough search, Barry Haynes has accepted the position of General Manager. Barry first came to AFC in 1995, when we were still known as The Ashland Community Food Store. Over the past three decades, he has grown alongside the Co-op, serving in many roles, including becoming AFC's very first Store Manager. His dedication has helped shape the welcoming, community-centered place we know and love today.

Most recently Barry agreed to serve in the role of interim General Manager for a second time, providing steady leadership during an important period of transition. Through his decades of compassionate, servant-leadership, he has earned the overwhelming trust and support of AFC staff and the management team. As one manager put it, “Barry is the Co-op,” a reflection of the care he brings to his work every day.

We are so grateful to Barry for taking on the role of Interim GM while also continuing as Store Manager over the past 7 months. We also wish to express our gratitude to the entire Management team and staff for their contribution and participation in the process, and patience while we found the right person to lead the organization.

Chances are, if you’ve shopped here for any length of time, you have crossed paths with Barry. Please take a moment to congratulate him the next time you see him. We could not be happier to see him step into this role, and we're excited to continue building the future of our Co-op together.
