Here is the recipe for the Muhammara dip that we make and sell in the Deli grab n go. The batch size has been reduced quite a bit so feel free to add a little more or less of whatever you feel it needs to create the taste profile you are looking for. Remember there are as many versions of Muhammara as there are people that make it so don’t be afraid to experiment and create your very own version.
You will need a food processor for this.
- 4 cup roasted red peppers, canned, or roast and peel your own
- 1 cup walnuts, toasted
- ½ cup bread crumbs
- 1/8 cup balsamic vinegar
- 1 T garlic, minced
- 1 whole jalapeno, seeded and chopped
- 1 ½ T molasses
- 2 t paprika
- 1 t cumin
- 2t salt
- ½ t pepper
- ½ cup olive oil
-Toast walnuts and set aside to cool
-In your food processor, blend until smooth all ingredients except the olive oil
-With the machine running, pour the olive oil in a slow and steady stream until well blended.
-taste and adjust seasonings
Now grab a baguette, pita chip, carrot stick or just a spoon and enjoy the smoky and sweet flavor that this dip brings to the table. Excellent on BBQ meats and vegetables this dip will store for up to a week in an airtight container in your refrigerator, so make a big batch and try it on everything to find your favorite combination.
