Homemade Christmas gifts

This morning as I dropped my daughter off at school, I noticed that the tree in front of the classroom was covered in pine cones that had been transformed with loving little fingers into feeders for the birds.  I instantly thought of the pine cone collection that was gathered this summer at one of our favorite camping spots and decided that friends and family would be receiving these little gems from Stella this year.  So simple to make you just fill all the crevices of the cone with peanut butter and then roll it in bird seed.  Remember to tie a string around the top of cone before you start so you can take it straight from the craft table to the nearest tree. 

These are really pretty and you get to watch the birds enjoy their holiday treat as well.  As I was driving away, a long lost memory flooded my being.  As a child I use to make Christmas cards by covering the hot griddle (150 -200 degrees) with heavy aluminum foil and coloring pictures or just melting shapes onto the foil with crayons, which melt quickly on the heated surface.  When you are done with your picture, place a piece of paper over the image and rub the back of the paper with a paper towel to transfer the melted wax to paper.  Gently lift and let dry.  Clean the foil with a paper towel and it is ready to make the next piece of art.  Parental supervision encouraged.

Meet Pachamamma Coffee Cooperative

Pachamama Coffee Cooperative started in 2001 with a few simple questions in mind: what would it look like to take Fair Trade a step further? How can coffee farmers be in direct relationship with end consumers in the United States?

We found that the answer was even simpler: cooperative ownership. Pachamama Coffee has been 100% farmer-owned since day one, and is currently owned by 140,000 small scale family farmers across the coffee producing regions of the world.

2018 Board Election Results

The AFC Board of Directors is pleased to announce the results of the 2018 Board Election. There were three excellent candidates running for two Board positions. In total, 905 votes were cast.
