Just in time for spring we have a plethora of seeds for your garden! Although it’s best to wait on planting some things outside until it’s warmer, you can easily start seeds indoors for a leg-up on the gardening season. Find a place inside your house that’s sunny and warm, grab some small containers and pick up some seedling dirt. Then comes the fun part, selecting seeds and planning your garden!
We currently carry two local seed companies at the Ashland Food Co-op, and recently expanded our selection for spring. Siskiyou Seeds is owned by Don Tipping, and based out of Williams, Oregon. This company boasts a wide range of organic and open pollinated seeds. We offer their Seed Catalogue, so you may read about each variety and take home planting tips.
Restoration Seeds is owned by Chuck Burr, and based out of Ashland, Oregon. This company is just a few years old, and offers open pollinated seeds, some organic varieties, and backs their product with a 100% guarantee. Although our selection of their seeds is a bit smaller, we do carry their variety packs which include snazzy assortments such as Children’s Garden, Heirloom Vegetables, and the Bigfoot mix.
Want to keep it simple? Even just growing lettuce, greens and tomatoes will save you money and supply your kitchen with fresh goods all summer long.
