EAT LOCAL CHALLENGE

THRIVE, with support from Ashland Food Co-op,

invites Rogue Valley residents to celebrate locally produced food by pledging to eat from the greater Rogue Valley during the week of September 11-20!

Eat Local Week also features fun activities aimed at raising awareness about the benefits of eating locally: including food film screenings, restaurant specials, store tastings, cooking classes, farm tours, and the Rogue Flavor Dinner and Auction at RoxyAnn Winery. The 2009 Eat Local Challenge features

3 distinct levels of participation:

The Purist

This is for the Die-Hard Locavores. All Foods in All Meals during the Entire Week must be grown, raised, or produced within 200 miles.

The Idealist

This is the "Middle Way." All Foods in One Meal Per Day during the Week must be grown, raised, or produced within 200 miles.

The Optimist

This is the easiest level. All Foods in Two Meals during the Week must be grown, raised, or produced within 200 miles.

All Participants, regardless of level, will receive the following:

Weekly Local Food Menu Plan
Local Food Recipes
Eat Local Week Calendar of Events
2009-10 ROGUE FLAVOR Guide
Eat Local Challenge 2009 Official Certificate of Participation

Purist Participants will also receive*:

Complimentary Local Foods Cooking Class and Wine Tasting (*Only the First 10 Purist Participants will receive this benefit)
Local Food Essentials Basket: Port Orford Sea Salt, Rising Sun Vinegar, Mary's Dried Herbs
Award Ceremony at Hillcrest Friday Growers Market (RoxyAnn Winery)
